Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how mattdragovits.com (“the Site,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit the Site or purchase our products. This Site is owned and operated by Matt Dragovits.
By using this Site, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are
Matt Dragovits is the author of Zach’s Quest and Dawn of Legends. This website is used to share information about the books and to sell signed copies and related products directly to customers.
If you have questions about this policy, you can contact us.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways: information you give us directly, and information collected automatically as part of running the Site.
Information You Provide Directly
When you place an order, we collect:
- Name
- Shipping address
- Email address
- Order details (items purchased, quantity)
We do not collect or store your full payment card information. Payments are processed securely by third-party payment processors — see Section 3 below.
If you contact us directly, we collect whatever information you choose to share in that message, such as your name and email address.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, our hosting and security tools automatically log some technical information when you visit, including:
- IP address
- Browser type and device information
- Pages visited and general site activity
- Referring website (how you arrived at our Site)
This information is collected for basic site security and functionality — it is not used to build advertising profiles, and we do not currently run any analytics or advertising tracking software on this Site.
3. How Payments Are Processed
We use the following third-party payment processors to securely handle transactions:
- Square — our primary payment processor
- PayPal — offered as an alternative payment option
When you complete a purchase, your payment details are entered directly into Square’s or PayPal’s secure systems — we do not see, collect, or store your card number, expiration date, or security code. Each processor has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your payment data:
We use WooCommerce, a WordPress e-commerce platform, to manage the order process on our end. Your order information (name, shipping address, email, and order details) is stored in our WordPress database in order to fulfill your order and maintain records for accounting purposes.
4. Shipping
We currently ship only within the United States. Your shipping address is used solely to fulfill your order and is not shared with anyone other than the shipping carrier used to deliver your package.
5. Site Security
We use Wordfence, a WordPress security plugin, to help protect the Site from malicious activity. As part of this, Wordfence may log visitor IP addresses and basic request data for the purpose of identifying and blocking security threats. This information is used strictly for security purposes and is not used for marketing or shared with third parties for advertising.
6. Cookies
This Site may use a small number of essential cookies required for core functionality, such as:
- Keeping items in your shopping cart as you browse
- Basic caching to help pages load faster
We do not currently use advertising cookies or retargeting pixels on this Site. If that changes in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect it, and where required by law we will ask for your consent first.
7. Children’s Privacy
Our books are written for children, but this website itself — including checkout and any contact forms — is intended to be used by parents, guardians, teachers, or other adults on behalf of a child, not by children directly.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect only to:
- Process and fulfill your orders
- Communicate with you about your order (confirmations, shipping updates, customer service)
- Maintain accurate business and accounting records
- Protect the Site from fraud, abuse, and security threats
- Respond to questions or messages you send us directly
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
9. Third Parties We Share Information With
We only share the minimum information necessary with the following types of third parties, solely to operate the Site and fulfill your order:
- Square / PayPal – to process payment
- Shipping carrier(s) – to deliver your order
None of these parties are permitted to use your information for their own independent marketing.
10. Data Retention
We retain order information for as long as necessary to fulfill orders, comply with tax and accounting obligations, and resolve any disputes. If you’d like your information removed from our records where we are not legally required to retain it, contact us.
11. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us.
