About Me
I'm Matt Dragovits, author of the award-winning Christmas adventure books Zach's Quest and Dawn of Legends. Growing up the third of nine children outside Allentown, PA, I spent my youth climbing trees, reading comic books, tubing down rivers, and riding motorcycles always chasing adventure, always drawn to drawing and storytelling. Shortly after high school, a friendship with a syndicated movie critic taught me the art of storytelling. I moved to Florida and built a 20+ year career as a professional video producer, currently serving as Video Producer for The American Academy of Pediatrics. Through it all, my passion for art and writing never faded. While living in Orlando, friendships with veteran Disney artists Jeffrey Varab and Irma Torre helped sharpen my craft. Most recently, I completed a one-year certificate program at Don Bluth University, studying under one of animation's most celebrated masters.
Ok, I never had a chance at not being a fan of fantasy. My last name on my father’s side is “Dragovits” (uhm… Dragons) and my Mom’s maiden name is “Merwine” which is a very old name originally derived from “Merlin”.
It also appears that over a thousand years ago, my family ruled a small country with castles, and princes, and all of that… until we got our butts kicked by Charlemagne.
