From Page to Screen
What if the magic of Christmas could become a cinematic adventure on the scale of the great fantasy films?
A Christmas Adventure Built for the Big Screen
Matt Dragovits’ award-winning Christmas adventure books, Zach’s Quest and Dawn of Legends, introduce a richly imagined world filled with elves, goblins, magic, danger, humor, courage, faith, and unforgettable characters. Created with the heart of a classic Christmas adventure and the scope of an epic fantasy, the series offers the potential to become a distinctive family-friendly film franchise.
And the story isn’t finished. The third and final book in the trilogy is currently in development, expanding the world and bringing the larger story toward its ultimate conclusion. For filmmakers and entertainment partners, that creates an opportunity to discover a fully developed fantasy universe with the potential to grow across multiple feature films.

Arthur Rankin Jr., the legendary producer and director behind those iconic holiday classics, personally signed the first copies of Matt’s book — and before his passing, wished Matt luck on his endeavor.
Matt’s goal is not to simply recreate the past. It is to build something new that captures the warmth, wonder, humor, heart, and adventure that made those classic Christmas stories so enduring, while expanding the scope into a larger fantasy adventure universe.

A Fully Imagined World Ready for the Screen
One of the most significant advantages of adapting Zach’s Quest for the screen is that the visual development has already begun.

Completed Screenplay
Already adapted into screenplay/script format — a foundation for storyboarding, budgeting, scheduling, and production planning.

3D Character Models
All principal and supporting characters have already been rendered in 3D, ready for previsualization and animation.

3D Environments
Several environments developed in 3D, establishing the visual language and scale of the world.
Rather than beginning with only a manuscript and an idea, the project already has a growing visual blueprint for an entire cinematic universe.
A Filmmaker’s Storytelling Foundation
Matt Dragovits brings more to the project than the role of author. Early in his career, Matt was mentored in screenwriting by syndicated movie critic Dale Schneck. His decades of experience in video production have further developed that skill set, spanning:
- Concept development
- Screenwriting & story development
- Storyboarding
- Pre-production planning
- Budgeting & production planning
- Directing
- Video production
- Visual storytelling
That combination provides a unique perspective on the transition from book to screenplay to finished film.

Combining Traditional Animation With New Technology
Matt has also pursued training in 3D modeling and animation, giving him hands-on experience with the technology increasingly used to build modern animated and visual-effects productions.
His animation background extends further: Matt attended and graduated from Don Bluth University for traditional hand-drawn animation, connecting his modern digital production skills with the foundational principles of traditional animation.

Storyboards From a Disney Animation Veteran
The cinematic vision for Zach’s Quest has also been explored through storyboards created by veteran Disney artist Jeffrey Varab — establishing composition, character staging, camera movement, action, emotion, and pacing.
Jeffrey would be a core member of the creative team for a potential feature-film production, bringing his professional animation experience and visual storytelling expertise to the project.

Two Paths to the Big Screen
There are several possible paths for bringing Zach’s Quest to audiences as a feature film.
The Hollywood Studio Model
A major animation or entertainment studio could provide the scale, infrastructure, financing, production resources, distribution, marketing, and theatrical reach necessary to transform the world of Zach’s Quest into a major family entertainment property.
The Independent Innovation Model
An ambitious independent production utilizing a smaller, highly talented creative team and emerging technologies — including AI-assisted tools — to support selected aspects of development and production.
A Christmas Fantasy With Franchise Potential
At its heart, Zach’s Quest is more than a Christmas story. It is the beginning of a larger fantasy universe — one populated by elves, goblins, legendary figures, and mysterious realms. Dawn of Legends expands that universe, while the upcoming third book promises to complete the trilogy’s larger story.
That gives potential filmmakers an opportunity to build not simply a single holiday movie, but a cinematic Christmas fantasy universe capable of extending across multiple films and media.
From Author to Screen
The pieces are already beginning to come together:
- Award-winning books
- A developing trilogy
- A completed screenplay adaptation
- A fully imagined fantasy world
- 3D-rendered principal & supporting characters
- Multiple 3D environments
- Storyboard Artist
- Experienced animation talent
- A screenwriting foundation
- Decades of video-production experience
- 3D and traditional animation training
- A story designed around cinematic adventure
This is more than an idea for a movie. It is a developing film property with substantial creative and visual groundwork already in place. The next chapter is taking that foundation from the page to the screen.
